Quite an upheaval when you don’t know what to expect. Within seconds, two become three. What does maternity really change? What do we learn by becoming a mother?[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”By becoming a mother, we learn to let go and live in the moment” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Indeed when we become a mother, there’s no place for perfectionism. But like me, you’d realized that. We want to be perfect because we want what’s best for our children. However, when we finally stop for a minute, we realize that being a perfect mom is stressful and draining. We end up stressing for nothing and add another layer of fatigue that’s not welcomed. We often compare ourselves to what we read in magazines without realizing that it’s not the reality.<\/p>\n

We learn to let go and distance ourself from all this. We realize the unwashed dishes on the counter aren’t as important. Because the baby needs us. We learn to appreciate the moment. It’s fun to realize that we’re doing our best. That’s what matters. Because yes, just like me, you’re not perfect, but you’re doing your best.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”By becoming a mother, you learn to forget about yourself and to give of yourself.” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]When the baby is born, we only think about one thing: the BABY. We do everything so it’s happy. And that’s all that matters. We dedicate body and soul to the baby’s well-being. And it’s hard to do otherwise. It may be a mistake, but it is what it is. Mom and baby against the world.<\/p>\n

We learn to forget about ourselves and to give of ourselves. Putting on making is now a luxury and that old pair of jeans becomes very useful. But it is also very important to not forget ourselves and take care of ourselves as well. Taking a nap, eating healthy will do good to our mind and body. Never forget to end the day with a warm bath.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”When we become a mother, our priorities change.” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]When we become a mother, our priorities change and our organization skills need to take over. Over are the times when you’d be washing and wondering how the day would go. You need to be organized to be functional. So we surprise ourselves to be a pro on the agenda. Between cleaning, work, groceries, daily appointments; among other things. A life without organization makes no sense. We’re clearly heroes as our children need us. No matter the time or place.<\/p>\n

No more intimacy with your partner. From that moment on, baby needs snuggles, more so than dad. No more recklessness and spontaneity for your couple. By becoming a mother, your priority changes, but it’s not because of a lack of ideas. Don’t worry daddy, you still have a place. [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”By becoming a mother, we lower our expectations and trust ourselves more.” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Having a child teaches us that things do not always go through as planned. We learn to be late, that the house isn’t spotless and the dirty laundry will have to wait.<\/p>\n

We learn to lower our expectations and get back to basics: the baby. We learn to trust and listen to ourselves.<\/p>\n

Trust your maternal instinct; your sixth sense as I refer to it. It will guide you through it all.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”By becoming a mother, we learn about unconditional love.” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]But by becoming a mother, the biggest lesson we learn, is true and unconditional love. This love so sincere that we would be ready to move heaven and earth for. Do I really need to explain this feeling, this love?<\/p>\n

It is so pure; so much so that it’s hurt. But while being soft at the same time. Each smile, each look, each hug, and each moment delight us.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Because being a mother is being the best version of ourselves.” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]P.S.: Thank you to our kids to help us make us the best version of ourselves.
